Zushi Sushi & Teppanyaki in Surfers Paradise

We spent a week at the Gold Coast on our recent trip to Australia and spent most of the time with our friends and family in the lead up to Sam & Brooke's wedding. After the wedding, Dan and I spent a few days on our own in Surfers Paradise, and whilst we were out searching for a restaurant for dinner one night we came to the realisation that Dan had never, ever eaten any form of Japanese food! We quickly had to change that & found ourselves almost immediately seated at beach front Zushi Suhi & Teppanyaki.

A Luxurious Stay at the Historical Simpsons Hotel of Potts Point

We spent our last night in Sydney at the lovely Simpsons Hotel of Potts Point. Simpsons is a beautiful, historical boutique hotel that has embraced its history and architecture which date back to the early 1890s, while still ensuring its guests have the very best in luxury and comfort throughout their stay. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy our last few days in Australia.

Pre-Flight Luxury and Relaxation at Plaza Premium Lounge, Heathrow.

We flew out of Heathrow on our recent trip to Sydney and started our journey off with a visit to the Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 4. Recently we have been booking ourselves into airport lounges prior to our trips as we find it a very relaxing and enjoyable way to start off our holiday. The Plaza Premium was one of the best we have experienced and it truly was a very luxurious, relaxing and enjoyable way to begin our very long journey to Australia.

My Top South American Wildlife Experiences

South America is the land of culture, colour, passion, and adventure. It captured my heart, with its diverse landscapes that attract a multitude of weird and wonderful creatures. I spent 6 months travelling the left hand-side of this incredible continent. When first arriving in Peru, I just hoped to see a real life llama. I left having seen more than I could ever have dreamed of.

A Photo Diary of Port Macquarie's Beautiful Beaches

You'll find my beautiful home town, Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of Australia, between Sydney and Brisbane. I've been lucky enough to travel quite a lot of the last few years and whilst I have had some incredible experiences all around the world if someone were to ask my favourite place in the world... I would always answer with Port Macquarie! For water babies like us it is the ideal place to visit (or live) with no shortage of stunning beaches and waterways. I absolutely loved showing it off to Dan on our recent trip home and I am pleased to stay he absolutely loved it!

Whilst photos will never truly give it justice, we just wanted to show you a little insight into our beautiful coastal town and for anyone visiting Australia, we hope you will add this to your bucket list... it is a slice of paradise!

Relaxed, Waterside Dining at Zebu Bar + Grill

Before I moved to the UK, Zebu Bar + Grill in Port Macquarie was one of my favourite places to meet friends to catch up over dinner and drinks. It is one of the most popular restaurants and bars in the town with both locals and holiday makers alike, which is not surprising given its iconic waterfront location.

Swiss Hospitality & 5 Star Luxury at Swissotel Sydney

On our recent trip to Sydney we stayed at the Swissotel Sydney. It was our first experience with the Swissotel brand and we were blown away. Every aspect of our stay was perfect from the service, to facilities and dining. The Swissotel Sydney is worthy of its five stars and we truly experienced five star luxury and that famous Swiss hospitality throughout our stay.

Petting Kangaroo's and Cuddling Koalas at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Leading up to our Australia trip Dan started to get excited about all the Australian wildlife he'd be meeting whilst we were over there. I also did catch him a number of times on YouTube watching videos of Kangaroos! Whilst we were staying on the Gold Coast for Sam & Brooke's wedding, we decided to take a trip to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane. We spent our day cuddling Koalas, feeding kangaroos and visiting the many other animals that live in the beautiful, natural animal sanctuary which is spread over 18 hectares of native Australian bush land.

Run or Dye at Hever Castle

Back in Australia, my friends and I would do a Colour Run every single year without fail. It was always a good excuse for a weekend away to Sydney to catch up with all the girls especially as we've all scattered across the country over the last few years since finishing Uni. Over the last few weeks Dan and I had spotted lots of signs around the area advertising Run or Dye at Hever Castle. It took a little convincing but I finally managed to convince him that we should sign up & we had such a fun, colourful day running around the beautiful grounds of Hever Castle in Kent.

10 Reasons Mad Monkey Hostel is the best Hostel in Siem Reap

Dan and I have both backpacked through six continents in our travels and whilst our style of travel has now shifted more to a flashpacker style, we still occasionally opt to stay in hostels in order to meet other travellers. Having studied International Relations & Politics at University, I have a passion for social justice and always love to hear about organisations that are making a positive impact on their community. We recently heard about Mad Monkey Hostel in Siem Reap, a fun, upmarket, party hostel that is truly making a difference in their local community. Cambodia is a country that has been through a lot over the past few decades and Mad Monkey Hostel is truly making a real impact on the community and Cambodian people. It is nice to know that by choosing to stay at Mad Monkey, a little bit of your money is going to help the community and here is our 10 reasons why we think Mad Monkey is the best Flashpacker Hostel in Siem Reap.
