The moment we stepped through the front doors of Maison La Minervetta we were greeted warmly, like family and truly felt like we were home! We'd been travelling for over a month and the feeling of returning to a place we knew well was like no other. The beautiful lobby and lounge at Minervetta are a relaxing, comfortable, nautical themed oasis which houses collections and family furnishings and memories of the owner's trips including design objects, art, vietri pottery and many, many books. The lounge feels like a home and I guarantee that guests to the hotel will feel welcome and at home immediately. We noticed a few little charming changes to the decor and collections from our last visit which we loved! The staff at Maison La Minervetta are warm, welcoming, friendly and genuine and are there no matter what time of the day to help with any queries you may have or to provide recommendations on places to see, restaurants to dine at or any other questions you may have.
La Maison Minervetta is perched on a clifftop over looking the Bay of Naples, Sorrento and the majestic Mt Vesuvius. It has a wonderful, peaceful location being only a short, scenic 15 minute stroll into the historical centre and there is a private staircase which allows you to reach the authentic, charming fishing village of Marina Grande below! From the lounge you step out onto the terrace which is one of the most beautiful places in the whole hotel and is a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, catch an amazing sunset or sunrise and simply marvel at the breathtaking views. We've been lucky enough to travel extensively all over the world and we're happy to say that Maison La Minervetta's view is simply the best we've ever had from a hotel!
Maison La Minervetta is the perfect sized boutique hotel with only 13 rooms and an exceptionally spacious sized hotel and grounds ensuring the ultimate in privacy and relaxation. Every room in the hotel is different and features unique decor and furniture and we were excited to be staying in a different room to our stay in 2014. I was speechless the moment we were shown to our room and almost cried with happiness when I saw that our room had the same beautiful, floor to ceiling windows as our previous room. Every room at Maison La Minervetta has a sea view which is without a doubt one of the highlights of a stay there. Our room was beautifully styled, spacious and I was in love of the nautical, maritime theme throughout! In addition to the incredible views, beautiful design and decor, every modern amenity and appliance was provided for our comfort including complimentary high speed Wi-Fi, TV, minibar and hairdryer.
Our bed was heavenly and ensured we had an incredible night sleep. We didn't even close our curtains as we didn't want to miss a single second of the view and loved being woken up naturally to a breathtaking sunrise over the Bay of Naples through our picture frame windows! Our room was incredible and every single aspect of the decor worked impeccably together to create an unforgettable room with a truly unforgettable view!
The nautical theme continued through to our stunning bathroom which featured a gorgeous rainfall shower, plush towels and indulgent toiletries.
Maison La Minervetta also boasts a beautiful swimming pool built into the cliffs which is an incredible place to swim, relax and admire the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean from above. For a small boutique hotel with only 13 rooms there seems to be endless hidden, romantic places to relax and enjoy the view with deck chairs, lounges, tables and chairs dotted throughout the hotel, its grounds and along the private staircase. The private staircase comprises of 300 steps down to Marina Grande which is a quiet, traditional fishing port which is unknown by many visitors to Sorrento and is truly a wonder to experience. We took the private staircase to the fishing port one evening to dine at one of the local restaurants, Portamarina which was recommended to us by the hotel and was only opened a year ago. It is a very authentic restaurant run by the local fishermen and their families and we both had an incredible seafood meal, for an incredibly reasonable price in what was without a doubt the restaurant with the best view in town!
There is truly magic everywhere you look at Maison La Minervetta.
Breakfast at Maison La Minervetta is an experience in itself and is enjoyed on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the entire Bay of Naples, Sorrento & Mt Vesuvius whilst relaxing in the sunshine! Breakfast is made in the kitchen, which is the heart of the home by the same two friendly ladies that were there when we visited two years ago. The breakfast buffet is mouthwateringly good and includes freshly baked pastries and cakes, fresh fruit, eggs and pancakes cooked however you like, breads, jams, cheeses and meats, yoghurt, cereal, fresh juice and tea and coffee. It truly is the perfect start to your day!
It's always a risk to return to a place you fell in love with in case your experience second time around isn't as good. We're happy to say that our experience at Maison La Minervetta was even better the second time around, which we truly didn't even think was possible! Maison La Minervetta is still one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever had the pleasure of experiencing and it is truly a gem in Sorrento and the whole Amalfi Coast region. We can't more highly recommend the Maison La Minervetta experience and are counting down the days until we can return to this incredible boutique hotel, which is so much more than just a hotel and such a special place to experience. We left Maison La Minervetta feeling refreshed, healthy and relaxed after an absolutely perfect stay in one of our favourite places in the world.
