The Taste of New York: An Interactive Map of NYC’s Top Foodie Spots

One of our favourite ways to explore a new destination and get to know it is through food! Sometimes however this is a little easier said than done and it can be difficult to get off the tourist trail and find the best places to eat! I very quickly fell in love with New York City when I visited in 2012 and can’t wait for my next visit, especially now that we’ve both released our inner foodies through our travels over the last few years. The Taste of New York in partnership with The Times and The Sunday Times Travel have collaborated to create an incredible Interactive Map which showcases the very ‘best of the best’ places to eat in the iconic New York City!

The Times and The Sunday Times launched their Insider City Guides in late March which brought together the extensive expertise and knowledge of the teams from both The Times and The Sunday Times, with the help of city-break experts at The Sunday Times Travel Magazine. The Insider City Guides feature information on the coolest hotels, the restaurants everyone are talking about and coverage of the most exciting shopping, culture and nightlife in the destinations their guides feature. We first discovered the Insider Guides earlier in the year when we came across their Taste of Barcelona guide, which took us back to a city we’d fallen in love with only a few months earlier!

For their New York guide and incredible interactive map, The Times and The Sunday Times asked some of New York’s top foodies for their first hand recommendations and tips for the very best places to eat in the city as well as their absolute must-try dish in each place! These top influencers are the very best and include:

  • Alex Reichek from chekmarkeats.com
  • Natalie, Gillian & Emily from New Fork City
  • Mel Rose from Food and the City
  • Perry Resnick from newyorkstreetfood.com
  • Andrea Strong from Andrea Strong

These ladies have covered what they consider to be the top 7 cuisines in New York: Burgers, Pizza/Italian, Street Food, Sweet Treats, Tacos, Steakhouses and Trending Spots. I don’t know about you but all of these sound pretty mouthwateringly good to me and there’s certainly something for everyone on this list! With their unique insight, the Taste of New York has come to life! Their top tips have been compiled into a newly launched interactive map which is featured on both The Times and The Sunday Times Travel Insider!
