Lake Titicaca is the world’s largest, high altitude lake and it is easy to understand how the Incas give credit to Lake Titicaca for the creation of their entire civilisation. Located on the Southern Part of Lake Titicaca, Isla del Sol is considered by the Incas to be the birthplace of the Sun God. My best friend and I were on a tour of Bolivia and Peru with Dragoman for the final month of our time in South America. We visited this tranquil island on a day trip from Copacabana and the day we spent hiking and exploring it was a welcome relief after the craziness of La Paz!

On Easter Friday we packed up the car and headed south to beautiful Diamond Head. Diamond Head is located in Crowdy Bay National Park, about 45 minutes south of Port Macquarie. Dan and I have camped at Diamond Head before and absolutely love the whole area with its natural beauty, empty beaches, excellent surf, white sand, friendly wildlife, excellent facilities and great walks! On this occasion we did the Diamond Head loop walk which gave us stunning scenic coastal views across the hinterland and coastline throughout the entire walk. The walk took us just under two hours and we loved every bit of the scenery, especially the panoramic vistas and the glinting rock faces which are said to have given Diamond Head its name.

In 2007 the incredible archaeological site of Machu Picchu was voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. This was unsurprising for anyone who has ever experienced the wonders of this magical site or for anyone who has long dreamed of visiting and ticking it off their bucket list. A lot of visitors to Peru aren’t aware of the countless other incredible Incan Ruins in Peru, many of which can be combined with a visit to Machu Picchu and most of which are within a few hours of Cusco! Peru is brimming with ancient ruins which detail the lives of the incredible Incan civilisation which thrived for over a century and are well worth visiting on your travels around Peru. I have been fascinated with the Incas and ever since I studied art at school and we spent a whole term on this ancient civilisation, along with the Mayan civilisation. To visit Peru and actually explore some of these incredible sites in person was an experience I'll never forget.

Bali is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, it is a tropical island paradise that has something to offer every traveller. To some it is culture and spirituality, to others it is beaches, surfing and rice paddies, to some it is an entertainment hot spot and to many it is an extremely affordable luxury holiday destination. The Balinese people are some of the friendliest in the world and a Balinese holiday offers you a truly relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. My dream Balinese holiday is to experience all the island has to offer in terms of beaches, culture and nature whilst enjoying my very own luxurious private villa with Villa-Bali.com.

Travel is my absolute favourite thing in the world and whilst I am constantly ticking things off my bucket list, I feel like it grows longer even quicker as I am constantly adding new things to it! In the last few years I have ticked off things I never dreamed I would. I've hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, paid my respects to the ANZACs at Gallipoli, wandered the ancient streets of Rome, ridden a camel through the Sahara Desert, hang-glided over Rio de Janeiro, took a helicopter over the Grand Canyon, swam in Loch Ness in the middle of winter, lived abroad and island hopped the Greek Islands just to name a few! Some experiences on my bucket list are more on the pricey side of things and so in order to tick some of them off I literally think I would need to win the lottery!

In the latter part of last year I finally made the move back home to Australia after a few years gallivanting around the world and two years living in the UK. This time I bought Dan home with me. Luckily thanks to our awesome Aussie way of life, our seemingly endless summer, sunshine, surf and beaches it didn't take much convincing to get him to move to the other side of the world. One of the things we were most looking forward to in Australia was getting our own place to settle down a little (don't worry we will still be doing plenty of travelling) and making it our own! Our decor has been inspired by the many luxury hotels we've stayed at during our travels and the destinations we've visited. Whilst it is important for things to look nice, the most important thing is comfort and today we're going to tell you all about Koala Mattress, the original mattress-in-a-box which is hands down the best mattress we've ever had and we loved it so much we wanted to share it with you!

If you've been following our travels for a while then you will know that we absolutely loooooove everything about Italy! I've been lucky enough to visit four times and Dan twice! We spent three weeks there last year during our European summer and it was during this time that I fell head over heels in love with Tuscany! I first fell in love with Tuscany when I saw the film Under the Tuscan Sun many years ago! On previous trips to Italy I had only visited Florence in this region and so this time we took a few extra days to explore as much of beautiful Tuscany as possible and it is certainly a place we plan on returning to and spending a few weeks whenever we get the opportunity! A lot of people also visit Tuscany on cruise ships when they dock in Livorno. From our past cruising experience we recommend pre-booking your Tuscany excursion with local suppliers and not the cruise ship as this enables you to disembark the ship and travel on your Livorno tour with local guides which also saves you a lot of money! We're sharing some of our favourite Tuscan villages to inspire you to live out your own Under the Tuscan Sun dreams by visiting this incredible part of the world.

Instagram has always been my favourite social media platform as it endlessly inspires me with gorgeous photos and also allows us to share our travel photos and hopefully inspire others to travel the world! We've had our Instagram account, @theaussieflashpacker for a few years now and as we've travelled across six continents we've gathered friends and followers from all around the world. We woke up a few days ago to the exciting news that we'd just reached 30,000 followers which has been a big milestone for us for quite a while now! To celebrate this milestone we've teamed up with our favourite regional Aussie airline, JETGO to give away return econony tickets for two anywhere on the JETGO Network!

We spent a week over the New Year period on beautiful North Stradbroke Island, located off Brisbane in Queensland. North Stradbroke Island, or Straddie as it is better known is the world's second largest sand island and is one of Australia's best kept secrets! We spent a wonderful week exploring Straddie's white sandy beaches which boast crystal clear waters, beautiful inland lakes and hidden waterways, scenic walks and enjoying the large numbers of native wildlife who call this island home. Straddie is easily accessible, affordable, beautiful and is the perfect place to enjoy a laid-back, relaxing holiday. These are some of our favourite holiday snaps from our wonderful week in paradise!

February is of course, the month of romance! Millions of people around the world treat their special ones with love and affection on Valentine's day and so we've decided to try and find some of the most beautiful and romantic languages in the world! After Christmas, we packed the car to the brim with all our boards and camping supplies and headed up the coast to North Stradbroke Island. North Stradbroke Island is located off the coast of Brisbane in Moreton Bay and was about a 10 hour trip from our home in Port Macquarie. North Stradbroke Island is also known by its Aboriginal name, Minjerribah and as Straddie, by both locals and visitors alike. Coming in at second to Fraser Island, Straddie is the world’s second largest sand island. The island is one of Australian’s natural treasures and we absolutely loved every second of the week we spent on Straddie with its white sandy beaches, magnificent inland lakes, hidden waterways, wildlife, friendly locals, scenic walks and wonderful laid-back way of life.

We've had some pretty exotic anniversaries in the time we've been together. For our first anniversary Dan surprised me with flights to Paris and for our second anniversary we treated ourselves to an unforgettable holiday to snowy Grindelwald in Switzerland! We've only fairly recently arrived back in Australia and so when we found out that JETGO Australia had recently launched flights from our hometown of Port Macquarie to Melbourne we were sold! We spent ages trying to find a nice hotel but as it was so last minute and so close to Christmas a lot were sold out! We then found a fantastic deal on Groupon for the Melbourne Parkview Hotel which is a luxury, 4.5 Star hotel that was ideally located and offered stunning views of Melbourne's Parks and the city skyline.

At the beginning of December Dan and I headed down to Melbourne for our anniversary! We had thrown a lot of ideas around about where to do, and didn’t know where could possibly top our previous anniversary getaways of Paris and Switzerland! A few weeks before our anniversary we learned that JETGO Australia had launched direct flights from Port Macquarie to Melbourne’s Essendon Airport! I’d only visited Melbourne once on a girls weekend when I was at University and Dan had never been so we thought it was the perfect place to visit! We had a quick, easy and comfortable flight to Melbourne, had a very romantic and luxurious stay at the Melbourne Parkview Hotel and spent our weekend exploring beautiful St Kilda and the Melbourne CBD. It was a lovely weekend getaway and we can’t wait to return with JETGO to explore Melbourne further!

2016 has been an incredible year! We left England in April, travelled through 12 countries and eventually settled back in Australia after two and a half years away! During our travels we've stayed in some incredible luxury hotels, so much so that it made it quite difficult to pick a top ten! Our top ten is quite a mixture of hotels and ranges from luxurious log cabins to the ultimate in five star luxury to glamping tents and boutique hotels. These ten hotels aren't just your typical luxury hotel, each offered us a unique experience like no other and we can't wait to share them with you!
