Australia vs UK: Comparing our cost of Living

Have you ever considered packing up your bags and moving yourself to another country, or perhaps all the way to the other side of the world? Whether you are seeking a sea change, a move to the mountains or to a country with a completely different culture, don't worry you are not alone! I think Australians (and a lot of Brits) are born with itchy feet and a desire to see the world and immerse ourselves in different cultures, religions, cuisines and experiences. The biggest question most people have is just how much it costs to live in another country, compared to where you are from. I've lived in Australia, the US and the UK and Dan moved from the UK to Australia with me so we have some kind of idea about how much it costs to live in other countries. We also recently discovered Netflights.com who have created an amazingly helpful calculator which allows you to see how your spending habits and lifestyle compare to those in the most popular expat destinations around the world!

The Spectacular Diamond Head Loop Walk

On Easter Friday we packed up the car and headed south to beautiful Diamond Head. Diamond Head is located in Crowdy Bay National Park, about 45 minutes south of Port Macquarie. Dan and I have camped at Diamond Head before and absolutely love the whole area with its natural beauty, empty beaches, excellent surf, white sand, friendly wildlife, excellent facilities and great walks! On this occasion we did the Diamond Head loop walk which gave us stunning scenic coastal views across the hinterland and coastline throughout the entire walk. The walk took us just under two hours and we loved every bit of the scenery, especially the panoramic vistas and the glinting rock faces which are said to have given Diamond Head its name.

My Top 10 Travel Bucket List

Travel is my absolute favourite thing in the world and whilst I am constantly ticking things off my bucket list, I feel like it grows longer even quicker as I am constantly adding new things to it! In the last few years I have ticked off things I never dreamed I would. I've hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, paid my respects to the ANZACs at Gallipoli, wandered the ancient streets of Rome, ridden a camel through the Sahara Desert, hang-glided over Rio de Janeiro, took a helicopter over the Grand Canyon, swam in Loch Ness in the middle of winter, lived abroad and island hopped the Greek Islands just to name a few! Today I am sharing my top 10 bucket list experiences and would love to hear if any of these are on your bucket list

Incredible Incan Ruins to Visit in Peru

In 2007 the incredible archaeological site of Machu Picchu was voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. This was unsurprising for anyone who has ever experienced the wonders of this magical site or for anyone who has long dreamed of visiting and ticking it off their bucket list. A lot of visitors to Peru aren’t aware of the countless other incredible Incan Ruins in Peru, many of which can be combined with a visit to Machu Picchu and most of which are within a few hours of Cusco! Peru is brimming with ancient ruins which detail the lives of the incredible Incan civilisation which thrived for over a century and are well worth visiting on your travels around Peru. I have been fascinated with the Incas and ever since I studied art at school and we spent a whole term on this ancient civilisation, along with the Mayan civilisation. To visit Peru and actually explore some of these incredible sites in person was an experience I'll never forget.
