We recently visited the iconic seaside town of Brighton where we chose to stay at The Moreland, a beautiful, modern and luxurious B&B located on a quiet residential side street just minutes from the city centre and a short two minute stroll to the seafront! We couldn’t have picked a more perfect place for our luxury, romantic weekend away at the beach.
The Moreland feels like a home away from home and we were welcomed into open arms by the wonderful owner Darren. The Moreland has been beautifully designed and decorated in a modern, contemporary style while still retaining the classical style of the building. Beautiful colours, stunning chandeliers and leadlight windows and a delightful selection of paintings, photographs and prints line the hallways. The Moreland is a wonderful mix of luxury, contemporary styling and absolute relaxation!
The Moreland has eight guest rooms, five with king sized beds and three with double beds. We opted for Room 5, a spacious, stunning room located on the second floor featuring a kind sized bed and overlooking the lovely terraced street. The room was huge, with plenty of room to relax, unpack and enjoy ourselves. In addition to the wonderfully comfortable bed, the room also has a table and two leather lounge chairs along with a luxury leather sofa in the corner of the room. Tastefully decorated in deep purples and black, we fell in love with the room! The private ensuite has a shower which had excellent water pressure and hot water along with soft, fluffy towels and luxury REN toiletries. The room also includes all modern appliances and items you’d expect of a luxury hotel including a large flat screen TV with DVD player, hairdryer, full length mirror, fridge, iPod dock, free Wi-Fi and even a USB charging station which I thought was an excellent addition! They really have thought of everything when designing The Moreland!
In addition there are a few special additions which really go above and beyond in ensuring you’ll have the perfect stay in both The Moreland and Brighton. Each room has a comprehensive, detailed folder that has been put together with information about The Moreland and as a guide to Brighton. I was incredibly impressed as I perused the folder – there were so many recommendations on where to eat, go out, drink, sightsee – everything! A lot of time and effort has gone into creating this resource and it is something that visitors to Brighton will truly appreciate.
Gone is the expensive mini-bar you’ll find in most hotels & B&B’s because at The Moreland you are provided with tea and coffee making facilities along with a complimentary tray full of goodies including chocolates, nuts and many other delicious snacks! It is such a great addition to the room & really makes you feel welcomed as a guest.
The Moreland boasts an impressive DVD collection of over 300 DVD’s including a lot of new releases and these are all available for you to borrow throughout your stay and enjoy in the relaxation of your room!
I’m not going to lie… one of my favourite things about hotel & b&b stays is the breakfast and The Moreland’s breakfast was one of the best! Being an Aussie I’m not a huge fan of the unhealthy English fry-up so I loved the extensive continent breakfast buffet offered at The Moreland. They have cleverly created their own version of a traditional continental breakfast and it has a huge range of variety – there is something here to please even the fussiest of eaters! Breakfast is served downstairs in a bright and airy room that has been very tastefully decorated and there is even trays provided if you wish to load it up with your breakfast feast and take it back to your room!
I was really impressed with the wide range of foods available at the breakfast buffet which included sliced meats, smoked salmon, over a dozen cereals, yoghurt, a range of breads, croissants, bagels, fresh fruit, fresh juices and a large spread of cheeses to name a few along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. All the foods provided were fresh and I loved the healthy spin on breakfast (but don’t worry if you have a sweet tooth or feel naughty there are still plenty of options for you to do so)!
I fell in love with Brighton – it is unique, quirky and has a great vibe about it. It also helps that it is on the sea, and there are plenty of things to keep you occupied such as wandering The Lanes, visiting the Royal Pavillion and wandering out to sea on the iconic Brighton Pier. The Moreland is within short walking distance to all of these and we really could not have chosen a better place to stay.
For a luxury, relaxing stay in Brighton – choose The Moreland. I guarantee Darren will look after you and he is full of information about the area and willing to help you organise anything! We certainly will return to our “home away from home” in Brighton as soon as we can.
