On our recent trip to Wales we took the plunge and braved the largest zip line zone in the world. Zip World Titan sees you soar over the North Wales’ world famous slate mines, mountains and moors. It is also Europe’s only 4 person zip line!
Zip World Titan is the second site of the Zip World venues and is located near the historic mining town of Blaenua Ffestiniog and over the Llechwedd Slate Mines. It is only a 40 minute drive from the first Zip World site in Bethesda.
Upon arrival we were kitted up with wind & shower proof jumpsuits, goggles, helmets and all the necessary safety gear before being taken to the truck that took us on a very bumpy ride to the first zip line.
Being winter we took part in the winter experience which encompasses two of the three zip lines as the third line is prone to bad weather. Arriving at the first winter zip line (Bedlam) we were attached and once all safety checks we complete we were off down the mountain, reaching speeds of 70 miles per hour! From there we took a short walk to the final zip line (Chaos) which ends at the start of the Llechwedd Slate Cavern where we began!
The view from the top and throughout the experience is stunning with moorlands, mountains, snow, lakes and of course the famous mining caverns.
We were advised to allow approximately 1.5 hours for the winter experience (and 2 hours in summer) but we were lucky I think mostly due to the not so great weather and it being a Monday that Dan & I were the only zip liners in our timeslot so we were finished in under an hour!
The Zip lining was such an adrenaline rush! Whilst we love adventure sports, I can get quite scared but we felt safe at all times – the staff were so helpful and encouraging and constantly carrying out safety checks. It was such a fun experience and the perfect way too end our weekend away!
Zip World have also recently opened Bounce Below, the world’s first subterranean playground of its kind located at Zip World Titan. Giant trampolines, walkways, slides and tunnels all made from netting are located in an underground hidden slate cavern. You’ll truly be able to release your inner child!
