Our time in the UK is fast coming to an end and there was a few things left to tick off my London Bucket list which included indulging in a Bottomless Brunch. My birthday weekend seemed the perfect weekend to head up to London and we decided that Villandry St James was the perfect location to experience our first ever Bottomless Brunch! Brunch is one of my favourite meals of the day and combined with bottomless bubbles,it was just too good to pass up! The restaurant was elegant and relaxed and we had a wonderful few hours at Villandry St James, enjoying a delicious brunch spread and indulging in unlimited Champagne Comte Remy de Vallicourt Brut NV.
Villandry St James is located on the corner of upmarket Waterloo Place and Pall Mall, only moments from Picacadilly Circus Tube Station. We were greeted by the friendly staff the moment we stepped through the front door, had our coats whisked away from us and were taken to our table. The restaurant is split level, and separated into a café bar and the restaurant and is located in a elegant, spacious building with beautiful large windows which allow lovely natural light into the restaurant. We loved our cosy booth seat by the window which allowed us to watch the world pass by outside whilst we relaxed over brunch.
Our waitress immediately poured our first glass of Champagne and took our orders for tea, coffee or orange juice. We both opted for freshly squeezed orange juice.
We then ordered our pastries and Dan chose a Almond Croissant whilst I opted for a Pain au Chocolat, both were huge, freshly baked, deliciously flaky and still warm! The combination of Champagne, freshly squeezed orange juice and a freshly baked pastry was a great start to our first ever bottomless brunch experience!
Dan chose the Villandry English Breakfast which was served with two free range eggs cooked as you like (he chose fried), a cumberland sausage, portobello mushroom, roasted vine tomatoes, sweet cured bacon, Eddie’s baked beans and sourdough toast. It was a very generous serving and cooked to perfection! I snuck a little bit of his sausage, mushroom and baked beans and they were delicious. The baked beans were the most delicious baked beans either of us have eaten! Dan was very, very happy and actually described it as the best full English Breakfast he has ever had, which is saying something considering he has lived in England for 27 years!
I am a big fan of Eggs Benedict for breakfast and was very happy with my decision when my beautifully presented breakfast arrived. The hollandaise sauce was mouthwateringly good, bacon delicious and muffin lovely and fresh. My poached eggs were slightly overcooked but that didn’t impact on the dish and I still really enjoyed my breakfast!
It is always a good sign when the waitress comes to clear your plates and they are both completely clean!
We were both very full after breakfast so asked for a little break before dessert to relax and enjoy the atmosphere and of course, our Champagne which was going down very well by this point.
As soon as we felt like our breakfast had gone down a little our waitress brought us each a Villandry Cake Platter. The cake platter was beautifully presented and featured a chocolate brownie cake, caramel tart, blueberry macaron with lemon ganache, banana muffin and a meringue topped with cream and a raspberry. Each cake was delicate and wonderfully light and sweet. It was a wonderful end to our meal and our favourites from the platter would be the macaron and caramel tart though all were delicious!
We had a wonderful morning at Villandry St James which is a wonderful, relaxed venue where we had a delicious brunch accompanied by bottomless Champagne Comte Remy de Vallicourt Brut NV! The staff were friendly and when they say ‘bottomless’, they certainly mean it and the staff ensures that our glasses didn’t get below half full during our entire two hour table booking. For £40 the experience is well worth it for a delicious, generous sized brunch and accompaniments along with bottomless Champagne, and we’ll certainly be back! We left complete converts of the Bottomless Brunch experience and would certainly recommend Villandry St James whether it is your first Bottomless Brunch or whether you are a weekend regular!
