We love staying in apartments when we travel as they very quickly feel like your own home on the road and allow you the opportunity to live life like a local in different cities around the world! We love the freedom, privacy and independence apartment stays offer and especially love having separate bedroom and living rooms especially whilst we are working on the road! Apartments can also save you a lot of money compared to staying in a hotel especially when you can cook for yourself. We had a fantastic stay in Barcelona in a gorgeous apartment with Sweet Home Abroad, a company we will certainly use again in the future!
We were staying in a quiet, one bedroomed apartment in the upmarket Eixample neighbourhood. Our apartment had been recently renovated and was modern, lovely, comfortable and full of light! We loved relaxing in the comfort of the apartment, cooking up our own meals in the fully equipped, modern kitchen and relaxing on the balcony feeling like true Barcelona locals! The location could also not have been any more perfect as we were only a short 5 minute walk away from Passeig de Gracia and within walking distance to all of Barcelona’s main attractions. It also took us less than 20 minutes to walk from the Aerobus stop in Placa de Catalunya! The location was ideal for us as we wanted to be off the busy tourist trail but also able to walk to the main sites. We also had a large supermarket located next to our apartment block which was fantastic and very convenient!
Our apartment had a lovely, bright open plan kitchen, dining and lounge room with beautiful hardwood floors. The living room had a dining table for four people, a flat screen TV with DVD player and a large lounge that can also convert to a sofa bed to sleep two people. The lounge room was wonderful and comfortable and we also had air conditioning, free wireless internet which worked perfectly throughout our entire stay and a lovely little, sunny balcony!
One of the main reasons we love to stay in apartments when we travel is to have access to a kitchen. We are total foodies and love to dine out when we travel but when we are on extended trips sometimes it becomes exhausting to dine out everyday and the cost of eating out also adds up! Our kitchen in our apartment was fully equipped, very modern and stylish. We had a full range of modern appliances, high quality glasses, crockery, cutlery and cookwear. In addition our kitchen also had a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer which were all discreetly hidden away behind cupboard doors! Dishwasher tablets and cleaning supplies were also provided and Dan had a great time whipping us up delicious meals in the kitchen!
We loved how much every room in the apartment felt like home within such a short period of time and the artwork, candles, floor rugs and little knick knacks around the apartment really made it feel very homely and cosy!
Our bedroom was spacious, had a lovely comfortable double bed and plenty of storage in the wardrobe in the hallway. It isn’t often when we travel that we stay somewhere long enough to unpack and so it was lovely to be able to do just that during our stay in our Sweet Home Abroad Apartment. Our bedroom also had a separate air conditioning unit to the lounge room ensuring we could maintain the temperature to our liking. Our modern bathroom was spotlessly clean and had a shower over bath, soft towels and plenty of loo paper provided!
We loved Barcelona and had a fantastic time exploring all the sites of the city! As we’re travelling for over three months we’ve booked a few apartment stays during our trip and Dan being the masterchef of the two of us has decided whenever we have a full kitchen that we’re going to shop locally and using the freshest of local ingredients to cook up local meals. We did an amazing Tapas Lover Tour the night before we checked into our apartment and so he was inspired by some of the dishes we had on the tour and prepared us some delicious Spanish tapas and dinners! Our apartment also had a huge supermarket located next door which was perfect for us and meant we didn’t have to go searching for supermarkets and waste precious relaxation and sightseeing time!
We loved everything about our Sweet Home Abroad stay in Barcelona! Our apartment was ideally located just off the tourist trail so we felt like locals and it was also close enough that we could still walk to all the main sites in the city! Our apartment was modern, comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed during our stay and it felt like home almost immediately! After three nights it certainly did feel like home and we were quite sad to be packing up our bags to leave. If you’re heading to Barcelona or another European city we highly recommend checking out Sweet Home Abroad! We love the freedom, flexibility and privacy that apartment stays offer and Katya at Sweet Home Abroad was professional, friendly and super helpful both leading up to and during our stay! We’ll certainly use Sweet Home Abroad on future trips after our fantastic stay in Barcelona!
