During our recent visit to Lake Bled in Slovenia we were lucky enough to stay at Garden Village in one of their incredible Glamping Tents. We fell in love with glamping last year when we glamped in Cornwall in the UK. Garden Village is incredible, it is an entirely ecological and innovatively designed complex, built over an abandoned gardening space that is the perfect destination for eco-conscious travellers! The resort is relaxing and blends in perfectly with its natural surroundings with fruit trees planted throughout the resort, herb and vegetable gardens and a peaceful stream running through the resort along with each glamping tent having it’s own garden! Our stay at Garden Village was absolutely perfect and we loved everything about our incredibly relaxing, stylish and unique glamping tent which even came equipped with its own wood-fired hot tub!
We arrived in Lake Bled from Ljubljana where we’d spent three fantastic days exploring this incredible city! Ljubljana is not only the 2016 Green Capital of Europe but has also been described as the most liveable city in Europe, and after experiencing it for ourselves we completely agree with that. Bled is located just over an hour north of Ljubljana by bus and Garden Village was located on the opposite side of the Lake to the train station. We fell in love with Lake Bled’s beauty the moment we saw it with our own eyes and rather than catching a taxi we decided to walk around the lake to see as much of it as possible. It was less than a 30 minute walk to Garden Village and was an incredibly scenic stroll! We were welcomed with smiles and open arms the moment we stepped into Garden Village and we instantly knew we’d chosen the perfect place to stay in beautiful Bled.
We were so excited the moment we saw our glamping tent which was the perfect combination of nature, relaxation, gardens, camping and glamour! Our fantastic glamping tent had plenty of privacy with its own private, beautifully kept garden, a wood-fired hot tub, outdoor table and chairs at the end of the garden which overlooked the treehouses, pier tents and stream below and also a deck and awning at the front of the tent with outdoor lounge furniture so we could enjoy being outdoors.
Stepping inside our tent we couldn’t believe how stylish and spacious it was! The ground floor had a double bed, sofa, dining table, mini fridge, TV, air-conditioning/heating, wardrobes for storage, a kettle, plates, glasses and cutlery along with a large bathroom with towels and toiletries provided. There was a staircase up to the gallery where there was an additional two single beds. The tent would comfortably sleep 4 people and we were so happy with how comfortable, relaxing and cosy it was!
Without a doubt one of the highlights of our stay at Garden Village was our private wood-fired hot tub in our private garden. Throughout the day the hot tub was tended to by the staff at Garden Village and of an evening there was plenty of wood to keep it nice & hot! We spent hours relaxing in our hot tub each afternoon and night after full days exploring beautiful Lake Bled and its surrounding regions.
Whilst we’d chosen to stay in one of the glamping tents during our stay we made sure we explored the resort and had a walk around the grounds to check out the other accommodation. Garden Village also offers luxury apartments, tree houses which looked incredible and are something both kids and adults alike would love and relaxing pier tents built over the stream which flowed through the resort. We were so happy with our choice to stay in one of the glamping tents but we would have also been more than happy to stay in any of the other accommodation options within the resort as they all looked incredible!
The restaurant at Garden Village is called Greenhouse and when you see it for the first time you’ll understand why! The restaurant is spacious with wooden floors, walls and ceilings, big glass windows which allow plenty of natural light in, a small stream runs through the restaurant and the tables are alive and edible with grass and herbs growing on them! Greenhouse serves traditional Slovenian Cuisine, called ‘Vrtnarija’ which is created using fresh produce straight from the garden to your plate! The restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike and in every guide we read about Bled we saw Greenhouse featured within it, which explains just how popular and fantastic it is!
Breakfast is served in the restaurant and included a delicious buffet selection of freshly baked breads and pastries, eggs and cooked breakfast items, salads, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, tea and coffee, freshly squeezed juices and plenty of items from Garden Village’s very own garden! It was a delicious, healthy and plentiful breakfast and the perfect way to prepare yourself for a big day of exploring this beautiful part of Slovenia!
Next to the restaurant and bar there is an open fireplace which is lit every night for guests and is the perfect place to relax with a drink by the warmth of the fire.
In addition to its own greenhouse, shop, restaurant and natural beauty the resort also has a playground for children, wellness services including massage, finnish sauna and meditation and even fishing equipment for guests staying in the pier tents within the resort! We also hired bikes from Garden Village on our second day which were very reasonably priced and allowed us to cycle around the lake and all the way to beautiful Vintgar Gorge which is well worth a visit if you’re planning to head to Lake Bled anytime soon!
Our stay at Garden Village was incredible, we fell in love with the resort, with our perfect glamping tent complete with private hot tub and with Lake Bled itself. Garden Village is ideally located to explore Lake Bled and the surrounding region from. If you’re planning a visit to beautiful Lake Bled with its natural beauty and fresh alpine air then we highly recommend glamping at Garden Village, our stay was perfect in every way and we’d love to return one day!
