Elegant Hotel Regency overlooks one of the most prestigious and beautiful squares in Florence, Piazza Massimo D’Azeglio, which served as a retreat to high government officials and ministers of the State when the city of Florence was the Italian capital. Today the 19th century Florentine villa is a five star hotel and proud member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection. Our stay at Hotel Regency was perfect and we loved having the opportunity to stay in a gorgeous 19th century villa in the heart of Florence.
Hotel Regency was built and designed as a luxurious villa and so guests are made to feel as if they are staying in the home of a elegant Florentine during their visit to Florence. We were warmly welcomed the moment we stepped through the front doors and made to feel at home instantly. The decor of the elegant hotel is that from the beautiful Regency period and we loved the tall windows and floor to ceiling glass doors where the warm, Tuscan sun pours in from morning to night. Hotel Regency also houses an exquisite collection of artwork including both paintings and sculptures as well as unique antiques that the owner has collected during his travels.
Hotel Regency has 32 exquisitely furnished rooms and suites which have been designed to reflect the elegance and style of the Regency period, the distinguished and unique design of the home and the welcoming atmosphere of a beautiful Florentine villa. Each room has a distinctive design and offers its guests every modern amenity, facility and comfort they could possibly want or need during their stay.
We were staying in a gorgeous Superior Double Room on the second floor which was elegantly decorated in Classical Florentine style with a beautifully soft, queen sized bed, a desk and beautiful views overlooking the beautiful gardens of Piazza Massimo D’Azeglio across the street. Our spacious room also had plenty of storage space along with modern conveniences including a Flat Screen TV, free high speed wireless internet, a minibar and air conditioning/heating. Our room was beautifully styled and we loved the classic, rich, elegant decor and how wonderfully relaxing and comfortable our room was.
We absolutely loved our gorgeous Carrara marble bathroom which had a rainfall shower over bath, indulgent toiletries and lovely, soft bathrobes and towels.
Relais Le Jardin, Hotel Regency’s restaurant is one of the finest restaurants in Florence and is open for lunch and dinner. Guests have the wonderful choice of dining in the elegant, unique Zodiaco Room which features a grand boiserie or the Veranda which is a natural extension of the dining room and faces the private, interior garden. In nice weather it is also possible to dine al fresco in the courtyard! Hotel Regency is one of the only hotels in all of Florence with its own private courtyard and garden and it is a timeless, romantic paradise that is perfect for enjoying a relaxing breakfast in the sunshine, having a drink or relaxing over a romantic candlelight dinner. The list of incredible Tuscan specialities at Relais Le Jardin in endless and it is a dining experience to remember. Hotel Regency also has an elegant bar, Il Salotto Lounge Bar which is a beautiful space designed to reflect the distinguished history of the Regency Period.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant and guests can enjoy their breakfast either inside or in the garden. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather during our stay and so chose to dine outside in the courtyard and it was beautiful to dine in the sunshine with beautifully kept gardens all around us. Breakfast is a buffet and there is a wonderful section of foods ranging from freshly baked breads, cakes, pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, freshly squeezed juices, cereal and excellent Italian coffees and tea. Breakfast at Hotel Regency was a wonderful, relaxing dining experience and the perfect way to start your day in Florence!
Our stay at Hotel Regency was as every bit magical as it sounds. To have the opportunity to stay in a gorgeous nineteenth century villa in the heart of Florence with its own private garden and courtyard is an experience like no other. We loved the exclusive location of the hotel as it was peaceful and relaxing yet close enough to be a lovely short walk, or taxi ride into the centre of Florence and all the main sites. The location was ideal and Hotel Regency was our perfect retreat in Florence.
Every aspect of our stay was incredible from the minute we arrived right until the moment we left and the wonderful staff could not have been any more professional, friendly, welcoming and helpful and they are a true asset to the hotel! We would return in a second to the gorgeous Hotel Regency and would highly recommend the hotel for an elegant, luxurious and enchanting stay in beautiful Florence.
