We spent a week over the New Year period on beautiful North Stradbroke Island, located off Brisbane in Queensland. North Stradbroke Island, or Straddie as it is better known is the world’s second largest sand island and is one of Australia’s best kept secrets! We spent a wonderful week exploring Straddie’s white sandy beaches which boast crystal clear waters, beautiful inland lakes and hidden waterways, scenic walks and enjoying the large numbers of native wildlife who call this island home. Straddie is easily accessible, affordable, beautiful and is the perfect place to enjoy a laid-back, relaxing holiday. These are some of our favourite holiday snaps from our wonderful week in paradise!
Straddie is very easily accessible by ferry and there are three main towns on the island which are linked by sealed roads, meaning even if you don’t have a four wheel drive you will still be able to explore to your hearts content! There is something for everyone ranging from hiking to water sports, amazing local fish and chips to fine dining, great camp sites to more luxurious accommodation options, friendly wildlife and an abundance of beautiful places to visit, all topped off with perfect weather, sunshine and untouched beaches. We loved our week on Straddie and hope our photos of this beautiful, unspoiled island convince you to add it to your Aussie bucket list.
