We’ve just returned from our amazing honeymoon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives and cannot wait to share our adventures from these two incredible countries with you! I’m literally already starting to think about where we should visit next and after visiting these two island nations, I definitely want another tropical island holiday! We’ve loved all our island holidays especially Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Australia and the South Pacific! The Bahamas is an island destination which is on our dream bucket list and here are a few reasons why we think The Bahamas would be seriously unforgettable!
The Bahamas are usually one of the first places that pop up in our minds when we think about long stretches of pristine beaches and crystal clear waters in luxurious locations. The Bahamas have often featured in some of the most legendary James Bond Films with Thunderball shot in The Exumas and Nassau while Licence to Kill was filmed in the Bimini Islands!
Two places that are at the top of our list are The Exumas cays where you can see the swimming pigs and Inagua where over 80,000 flamingos live!
Water lovers in The Bahamas will love the diving and snorkelling as well as the underwater cave system which you can swim through! These cave systems have been formed by eroded limestone and make up a large circuit of caves.
On the other hand, you can head to Paradise Island to stay at the famous Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and its marine habitat, a renowned water park and many enticing restaurants and bars. There is also countless activities occurring on the island all year round such as the PCA Caribbean Adventure, Junkanoo festivities or the Bahamas International Film Festival.
Eleuthera is a beautiful and laid-back haven with pink, sand beaches that no visitor to the Bahamas can miss! The Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve is a magnificent 25-acre sanctuary on Eleuthera which is the perfect place to experience the island’s rich, botanical species and learn about different types of plants and their uses.
You can also go swimming with dolphins on Blue Lagoon Island Salt Kay, which is another must-do activity for anyone in The Bahamas!
There’s no shortage of places to stay with options ranging from small hostels to luxury hotels, such as The Cove Atlantis, The Island House, Tiamo Resort and the One&Only Ocean Club, a favorite among stars who can be spotted during their holidays at this exclusive colonial-era, themed resort.
Regarded by many as some of the world’s most beautiful tropical islands, The Bahamas hosts different options for all tastes. From adventure sports and activities to relaxing beaches and great entertainment options, there is something for everyone in this beautiful part of the Caribbean and we cannot wait to visit!
