If you are a regular reader or follow along on Instagram then you’ll of course know that we got married at the end of October! We got our photos back a few weeks ago and I’ve been itching to share some of the best moments of the best day of our lives with you. Our photographers took so many stunning photos that I’ve decided to break down our wedding day into three sections: the getting ready, the ceremony and the photos/reception. I know it sounds cliche but our wedding day was absolutely perfect and we loved every second of it. I hope you enjoy our pre-wedding snaps and be sure to let us know in the comments if you liked them! x
It was the best feeling ever to wake up to the most perfect weather, especially when you are having an outdoor wedding! Our apartment at The Observatory in Port Macquarie overlooked the beautiful Town Beach and we spent the morning relaxing on the balcony, spotting whales and dolphins playing just off the beach. It literally was the most perfect place to stay and I think staying in such a lovely apartment right on the beach, with magnificent views really helped me to stay so relaxed throughout the day leading up to the ceremony!
I honestly had the best day getting ready with my four gorgeous bridesmaids and my mum! My lovely bridesmaids were three of my best friends from University and my lovely cousin, Jacinta. My main memories from the morning were just of constant laughter and fun! We were pampered by the lovely girls from Waniora Hair & Beauty and Kate from All Dolled Up whilst we relaxed in our gorgeous robes which I’d ordered from Le Rose, danced around to music, enjoyed the sunshine and the view and sipped on bubbles. Our photographers, Nic Donohoe and Brett Rukowski were absolutely brilliant. We had so much fun with them and I loved how relaxed they made us all feel (which definitely shows in the photos too)!
Whilst us girls were being made beautiful, the boys spent the morning at the beach surfing and helping run last minute wedding errands. They then had plenty of time to relax at our house, have a BBQ and enjoy some cold beers before it was time for them to suit up! I was a little jealous they could spend the morning at the beach and be so relaxed whilst our day began at 7am with hair and make up!
The boys did scrub up really well and I was so happy with their suits and clothes which we purchased from Tarocash. I think they all looked really handsome and loved the combination of the blue suits with brown shoes and belt and the blush ties. Dan’s groomsmen were made up of his friend Adam and brother Jay who were from the UK, my brother Jake and our friend Greg. My dad even popped around to make sure they weren’t causing too much trouble before we came to us girls later in the day.
The time had come to get frocked up! The girls looked so beautiful in their blush dresses from Forever New and my mum in her lovely dress from Noni B.
My dress was by Mia Solano and we’d found it on our girls weekend to Sydney earlier this year at Luv Bridal in Parramatta. It was called Brighton which was quite special to me as we lived quite close to Brighton in the UK, it was one of my favourite places in England aaaaand it was where Dan proposed!
I loved our gorgeous flowers which the very talented Ashley from Touchwood Flowers created for us! Unfortunately we didn’t have any grandparents at our wedding as I lost my beautiful Nan 10 years ago to Motor Neurone Disease and my Pop over 5 years ago. I very sadly also lost my Grandma only two months ago and my Grandad was not well enough to travel and attend. I was very close to all my grandparents and would have loved them there on the day more than anything and so I ordered these beautiful charms which were tied to my bouquet and contained photos of both my sets of grandparents on their wedding day. It felt special to have them there with me on the most important day of my life and I’m so happy with how the charms turned out and I know I will keep them forever.
We had time for one last photo shoot with Nic & Brett before our wedding cars arrived and we were off to get married! Our ceremony was held on a beautiful lookout in Port Macquarie and I can’t wait to share all the photos and special memories from when we became Mr & Mrs, surrounded by all of our closest friends and family.
Check out our other wedding posts: Part 2: The Ceremony & Part 3: The Photos & Reception.Photographs used in this post were taken by the very talented Nic Donohoe Photography.
