If you’re looking for a romantic getaway with a loved one, you can’t do much better than a tropical vacation. No matter your reason for planning the getaway, whether it’s for a honeymoon, an anniversary, or just because, you’re sure to experience phenomenal beaches, breathtaking scenery, and plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Here are three amazing tropical destinations for couples that are perfect for a romantic getaway.
Fiji
Fiji is made up of more than 300 islands in the South Pacific. The two largest islands are Viti Levu — where the capital, Suva, and the majority of the population are located — and Vanua Levu. If you’re worried about travel times to Fiji, it all depends on where you’re coming from (but we promise Fiji is worth it!). Fiji is about three to four hours from New Zealand and Australia, and 10 hours from the West Coast of the United States.
Fiji is a well-known honeymoon destination. It’s a luxurious spot for couples due to its numerous private islands, spas, beautiful beaches, and all-inclusive resorts. This is a great destination for couples looking for a laid-back vacation of swimming and diving in crystal-clear waters, lounging on the white-sand beaches, and exploring the secluded jungles and waterfalls of Taveuni. But there’s much more than that to do if you’re looking for more activities or adventures.
The Bahamas
Located in the Caribbean, the Bahamas attracts travelers from all over the world with its picture-perfect tropical setting, convenient location, relaxed atmosphere, abundance of activities, and great nightlife. This is a great destination for couples who want to experience the best of both worlds: a remote tropical getaway and a popular vacation spot with plenty of restaurants and nightlife. There are more than 700 islands and 2,000 rocks and cays in the Bahamas, so if you want to be more removed from the hustle and bustle of the main islands, this is easy to do. Eleuthera, an island known for its pink-sand beaches, is a great choice if you’re looking for a more relaxed island than New Providence, where the Bahamas’s capital, Nassau, is located.
As for what to do once you’re there, the Bahamas has plenty of activities for every type of person. You absolutely must go diving and snorkelling in the incredible underwater cave systems. But we also recommend visiting the Exumas cays to see all of the swimming pigs, swimming with dolphins on Blue Lagoon Island Salt Kay, and going to Inagua to see thousands of flamingos. And then after a long day of swimming and exploring, head over to Paradise Island for some great food and drinks at one of the Atlantis’s many restaurants and bars.
Thailand
There’s no doubt that Thailand lives up to its slogan, “Amazing Thailand.” Over the last few years, Thailand has seen a spike in tourism. In 2017, Thailand had roughly 35 million tourists — a 9 percent increase. And this year, tourist numbers rose 6 percent on top of that, with no sign of slowing. Tourists come from all over the world to visit Thailand, with the majority landing in Bangkok and for those travelling onwards, there are plenty of hotels near the airport where you can rest up before your next flight.
Perhaps one of the reasons Thailand has become so popular is that it’s an extremely affordable tropical destination for all. No matter your budget, there’s something for everyone.
Located in Southeast Asia, Thailand is home to many beautiful mountains, beaches, islands, forests, waterfalls, and hot springs. So, don’t just pick one location and stay there — travel around and see it all! There are too many tourist attractions to mention, but some great ones include Khao Sok National Park, The Grand Palace in Bangkok, the islands off the main coast (such as Phuket, Ko Tao, and Koh Phi Phi), and the Golden Triangle. There’s also plenty of amazing, affordable food to try. You could even take a couples’ cooking class to try your hand at the local cuisine.
These three destinations are sure to please any couple looking for a romantic tropical getaway. If you need a break, want to celebrate a special occasion, or if you’ve got the itch to travel, we recommend considering one of these beautiful destinations for your next vacation.
