The Curious Pig in the Parlour is a beautiful country pub in Copthorne, only 7 miles from Gatwick Airport. We used to live in charming Crawley Down and often drove past the pub on our way to see Dan’s family. When we booked our trip to England last Christmas we decided to spend the night at the Curious Pig in the Parlour and had such a lovely stay! The rooms were stylish, comfortable and so affordable! We had such a great stay and would stay again on our next visit.
We had lunch and drinks at the restaurant, all of which were delicious! It was yummy pub food, nothing too fancy but delicious.
The pub was so festive and cosy with a large wood fireplace and beautiful Christmas decorations.
We’d booked superior double rooms and our rooms in the pub were so beautiful, cosy and comfortable. They were spacious with super comfortable king beds, tea and coffee and stylish decor. I loved the special touches in each room and all the beautiful, quirky bits of decor that adorned the room. I’ve found similar gorgeous home decor on Cox & Cox, all of which I think would look beautiful at home and make lovely gifts!
The rooms at the Curious Pig in the Parlour all had names and it was really funny that my parents were in the ‘Tamworth‘ room because that is the town they both grew up in back home in Australia.
The bathroom had a rustic charm and a lovely hot shower with wonderful water pressure. The towels were fluffy and white and I loved that the toiletries were from The White Company, one of my favourite brands.
We booked our stay through booking.com and it came to £120 for two rooms (£60 each – approx $110). It was such a great price for somewhere so lovely and it also included breakfast which was cereal, fruit, coffee, tea, toast and yoghurt as well as a cooked breakfast. We all chose Eggs Benedict which was delicious!
My only slight complaint was the check-in service. We checked in on-time after our lunch and we had to wait for ages for staff to turn up and then our rooms weren’t ready straight away. The reception was messy and a bit grubby and so it wasn’t a good first impression, however once we got to our rooms everything else was perfect.
We would definitely book a stay at the Curious Pig in the Parlour again when we come back to England to visit Dan’s family. Our stay was super charming and so cheap, we couldn’t believe how lovely it was and for the price we paid!
