My home town of Port Macquarie is a coastal paradise all year round. We’ve got so many beaches and hidden waterways that it’s easy to find a secluded place to enjoy! We recently discovered these gorgeous rockpools at Oxley Beach that were the perfect place to spend an afternoon. As a bonus – dogs are allowed at this beach too, which meant we could bring our favourite boy Joey with us!
We did most of our shopping for Christmas online this year, meaning we had more time to spend at the beach and with Joe! Online shopping is really convenient for our England family because we obviously live on the other side of the world. We’d arranged most of our Christmas presents and just needed one last one for Dan’s mum. She adores Thornton’s chocolates (as we all do) and I was so glad we were able to send chocolates by post!
Because we were so organised with our Christmas shopping this year, we’ve spent every spare moment we can at the beach!
This afternoon the weather was absolutely perfect so we went for a walk on Oxley Beach. I love Oxley Beach because you can take dogs there and it is normally really quiet, despite being really close to town.
Just off the beach there is some beautiful rockpools, perfect for a dip! We adopted Joe just over a year ago and he came from a farm where he had never been to the beach. We’ve slowly been introducing him to the water and he is really starting to love it except when there is big waves. These rockpools were calm, clear and perfect to wallow in as the afternoon slowly turned to early evening.
As much as we love travel and visiting new places, my home town is my happy place and I can’t think of a better place to spend our summer afternoons!
