We love all styles of travel as long as we are out there exploring both new and old places. Some of our favourite holidays have been campervan holidays where we have spent our vacation exploring new destinations from the comfort of our home on wheels! Here are five epic Caravan & Campervan Destinations for your next holiday!
Cornwall, England
The Cornish stretch of coastline is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. If there was ever a place in the UK where we would like to settle down, we would choose Cornwall in a heartbeat. Cornwall’s coastal towns and villages are picture perfect with whitewashed fishermen’s cottages, sandy beaches and picturesque harbours with bobbing fishing boats.
Cornwall’s villages are bursting with history, majestic ruins, scenic walks, incredible local cuisine and quaint seaside holiday cottages. Each town and village has their own unique character, beauty and reasons to stay and it is our ultimate UK caravan & campervan holiday destination. We plan to spend time doing this journey once we have kids of our own one day and may even look into private motorhome hire for this holiday!
New Zealand’s South Island
New Zealand has epic national parks, world-class surfing and skiing, rain-forests, sandy white beaches, wineries, ice age glaciers, multi-day hikes and adrenaline packed adventures for all! It’s one of our favourite destinations to visit and especially to campervan around. I first campervanned with my family when I was a kid, and then Dan and I did it again for his 30th birthday.
New Zealand is a beautiful country at anytime of the year and is even more magical in winter. Winter is the low season so you won’t need to share its beauty and tourist destinations with others, prices are more affordable and everything is more beautiful with a dusting of snow! In our opinion, winter is the best time to visit this stunning country and a campervan gives you the freedom to see it from the comfort of you own travelling home! We absolutely loved every moment of our New Zealand winter roadtrip in our JUCY camper!
Portugal’s Algarve
Portugal is without a doubt one of the most underrated destinations in Europe and during our campervan trip we fell in love with the country, the people, the food & wine, the scenery and everything about this magnificent country. For such a small country, Portugal is incredibly diverse and we were extremely lucky to experience quite a large part of Portugal during our campervan trip with Soul Campers.
The Eastern part of the Algarve is less frequented by tourists and contains naturally beautiful beaches, secluded islands, small traditional fishing villages and authentic Portuguese countryside. The Western Algarve is the more “touristy” part of the Algarve where we found paradise in Lagos and the gorgeous beach towns which surround it.
The Algarve is well known for its sunny Mediterranean climate, its beaches and resorts but it is so much more than just that. Portugal has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, we found the people to be friendly and welcoming and the food and wine to be incredible! Wild or so called free camping is tolerated out of peak season and we spent our nights camped up along the most beautiful of beaches. Portugal is campervan & caravan heaven!
Australia’s East Coast
It’s no secret how beautiful Australia is and we are so lucky to call it home. An extremely diverse country, it has everything you could ever want. If you’re thinking of visiting our beautful country and love the great outdoors, then we highly recommend travelling the East Coast of Australia.
The East Coast is an essential experience for all visitors to Australia and it would be perfect to do as part of a road trip in a campervan or caravan. You can start in Melbourne, travel along the South Coast to Sydney and up to Newcastle and the Hunter Valley to the Mid North Coast where you’ll find my beautiful hometown of Port Macquarie. From there you can head North to Byron Bay, the Gold Coast and all the way to Cairns and the islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
The East Coast of Australia is the ultimate in Caravan & Campervan Destinations and is on so many bucket lists!
Iceland’s South Coast
Iceland’s south coast is breathtaking. There isn’t many places you can visit waterfalls, lava fields covered in moss, black sand beaches, picturesque villages and glaciers all in one day. In Iceland you can do just that, and all of these sites are located just off the main Ring Road.
We had the best time roadtripping in Iceland last winter and every day was jam-packed with stunning scenery! We hired a car and stayed in hotels and cabins as we travelled during winter, however Iceland would be an epic country to visit during summer and to campervan around! I would recommend a campervan over a caravan as it can get crazy windy and is one of the windiest places on Earth.
We love all types of travel, but particularly love the freedom that a campervan or caravan holiday gives you. There’s so many options including the best small caravan with a shower and toilet, to ones that are cosy and likely good on gas! Ultimately, the best type of caravan is the one that fits your travel style, needs and lifestyle.
