I just adore being a mum and dressing my little Addie up in gorgeous clothes and accessories. I knew I would be happy with any gender, but I was honestly over the moon when I found out we were having a little girl as I couldn’t wait for all the beautiful outfits that I could dress her in! I’m passionate about the environment and try to make sustainable choices whenever I can, in all aspects of our lives. Whilst we can’t afford to exclusively dress Addie in organic items, I do try to buy organic whenever we can, and also try to buy from eco friendly and ethical, sustainable brands. This is why I was so happy to stumble across Elves in the Wardrobe recently, which is the most beautiful online organic baby and kids clothing store. Elves in the Wardrobe have done the hard yards and have put together the most amazing collection of incredible ethical, eco friendly and sustainable brands from Australia and overseas. It’s honestly a one-stop-shop for organic baby clothes.
Elves in the Wardrobe
Based in beautiful Bellingen, just up the road from where we live in Port Macquarie, all goods are sent by the friendly, hard-working elves from the Elves in the Wardrobe workshop. Elves in the Wardrobe helps making sustainable, responsible choices easy and your children will be well-dressed, stylish and oh so comfortable. It is a truly magical and special shopping experience.
Even just the name ‘Elves in the Wardrobe’ evokes magical, whimsical vibes. I love that every product has been hand-picked with the magic of childhood in mind from the very best eco-friendly brands from Australia and overseas.
Elves in the Wardrobe stock over 40 brands in their store and our order was made up of the most gorgeous goodies from beautiful brands Hvid, Numero 74 and Konges Slojd. I like to use the items multiple times and also wash them (only the ones that did need washing) to see how well they hold up after a few wears and washes. All items honestly look and feel just like new, and I’m convinved they are such good quality that they will last the test of time!
Konges Sljod
Our order contained a few items from the Danish eco-fashion brand Konges Slojd. Konges Sljod produce ethical, timeless, simple, high quality and tasteful Scandinavian designed organic children’s clothes and toys, all of which are created to bring little ones joy.
Konges Slojd Organic Cotton Pointelle Onesie and Leggings
This gorgeous set is made from the softest organic cotton and has been designed in the most gorgeous Autumn/Winter colours and design. I love that the onesie has an envelope neckline which makes dressing easy and the leggings have soft elastic around the waist which makes sure they fit perfectly!
In addition, I love that both the leggings and onesie perfectly fit with a cloth nappy on. I’ve really struggled to find beautiful clothing in the right size for Addie that fit a cloth nappy! I love using cloth nappies, both for environmental and cost reasons and have been using them since Addie was two months old. I invested in a decent sized amount of cloth nappies and accessories and like anything new, it took a little while to get used to but now I love using them and only use disposables when we are away! It does make me sad when some of her cute little outfits don’t fit when she is in cloth nappies as they are obviously a bit bulkier, and so I was so happy when these beautiful clothes fit!
Konges Slojd Organic Wool Knit Pointelle Knee Socks in Creamy White
The socks are made from 100% certified organic wool and are the warmest, comfiest little socks. I even honestly wish they made them in adult size! These knitted pointelle knee socks are magical and Addie wears them multiple times a week and will all throughout winter. They make every outfit look charming and keep her toes snug and warm at the same time.
Konges Slojd Natural Dinner Set in Flamingo style
This beautifully illustrated dinner set has a plate, bowl, cup, fork and spoon and is such a magical little set that I know Addie will keep forever! It’s far from the bright coloured plastic sets which were all too common for my generation (and thank gosh for that)! We are getting close to Addie starting solids and whilst the beginning will be messy purees, I am so looking forward to when I can dish up little meals for her in her gorgeous little dinner set. It feels like such good quality and is almost too beautiful to put food in!
Numero 74
I particularly love this brand because their products are made by artisan women in villages in Northern Thailand. I’ve got a soft spot from this part of the world as I spent a month volunteering with an organisation in Chiang Rai, Thailand all the way back in 2010! It is such a beautiful part of the world and the people could not be any more lovely, kind and happy. I would always support companies who support the work of these beautiful people.
Numero 74 Organic Cotton Muslin Headband Romy Bow in Powder
This gorgeous headband is in the most beautiful pale pink and is so wonderfully soft. It is a perfect size too, and will grow with Addie so well. I’ve honestly dressed her with this gorgeous head band most days since we received our order and it’s my favourite headband of hers. It could also be used as a bow in a ponytail too.
Hvid
Hvid is a Belgian brand which creates timeless, sustainable and natural baby essentials. The entire collection is made in Belgium and boasts so many stunning soft knitted goods. All items are created by craftsmen and finished off by hand. It is a truly stunning brand that is also committed to creating ethically produced goods.
Hvid Organic Merino Wool Knit Baby Teddy Tokki in Rust
Our Hvid Tokki is a beautiful baby teddy bear/comforter which has been made from 100% Merino wool. The Tokki is so soft and snuggly and the Merino wool absorbs the scent of your baby to create a beautiful comforter which will help to calm and settle bub! Addie hasn’t let go of her Tokki since she received it and it is not just soft and beautiful, but is the most gorgeous natural rust colour. I can’t wait until she is old enough to sleep with a comforter as I think the Tokki will definitely be her comforter of choice!
Our Hvid Baby Booties are without a doubt the most gorgeous booties I’ve ever seen! Made in Belgium from 100% soft natural Merino wool, they are the softest booties and keep Addie’s little toes snug and warm. They are truly divine.
Final Thoughts on Elves in the Wardrobe
I’m so in love with all of Addie’s organic, ethically made clothes and accessories from Elves in the Wardrobe. The beautiful head band is my favourite head band of hers (and trust me, I have quite a few). Since receiving our order, I think it’s the only one she has worn as it is such beautiful quality and matches all her little outfits (as seen in the pictures below)! I also dress her in the beautiful socks and booties regulary and she is almost never seen without her Hvid comforter anymore! We obviously also love all of her Konges Slojd clothes & beautiful little dinner set too!
I’m planning to keep all our baby clothes as Addie grows out of them as we are planning to have more children. However, I do also plan to keep all of Addie’s special outfits and my favourite, beautiful pieces of hers in storage to give to her when she is grown up so she can use them with her own kids one day! I will definitely include all of these as they are such special, beautiful quality clothes that I would want to keep for her forever.
