Hi! I’m Simone and welcome to my little corner of the internet.
I’m a new mum, wife, wanderluster and blogger. I love sharing our travels, lives and the things we stumble across and fall in love with on here.
I met my now husband Dan (a Brit) whilst backpacking in South America in 2013. I’d just finished University and was on a second ‘gap-year’ of sorts whilst I tried to decide what I wanted to do. Living and working in the UK is almost a right of passage for Aussies and so it didn’t take much convincing for me to apply for a working visa and jump on a plane to England.
I started blogging as a way to keep my parents updated on my travels and life in the UK. The Aussie Flashpacker then developed into a place for Dan and I to share our travel tips, stories and photos with other likeminded travel lovers. We’ve travelled to 52 & 53 countries respectively and have a bucket list that will keep us going for a loooong time.
We spent a few years in the UK and travelled extensively throughout Europe before receiving Dan’s Australian Partner Visa and relocating back to Australia. We’ve been living in Australia for almost five years and have bought a house, got married, adopted a fur-baby and recently had a baby!
Pre-COVID we travelled overseas annually, with visits back to Europe, to the Middle East & Africa, New Zealand, Singapore, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The love of travel runs through our blood and we’re now enjoying exploring our local area and further afield in Australia.
Today, the Aussie Flashpacker remains my little place on the internet where I share our travels, musings, bits and pieces from home and from our lives living by the sea in Australia and our journey into and throughout parenthood.
Thanks for stopping by, please say hi either here or over on our socials! x
